Art in the midst of it
We are in some serious hours. Yet, it’s doubly important to find the Lord in our lives in the right nows, the moments where He gifts us with possibilities.
Two months ago, my kids gifted me with canvas and oil. I had these saturated pinks and apricot colors in my mind. Finally, the paints have come out. More to complete. More to discover. It gave me the best day.
We, each of us, must find these moments. It’s healing. It’s discovery. Our beauty shines as a reflection of the world we see.
I can‘t change the timeline or the outcome from other people’s choices. I am called to love, to bring hope, and to pick myself up after I’ve made mistakes. All of us will stand before God. And, as it seems everything is spinning wildly and viciously out of control, we must find the places that make us happy and whole. For me, it’s in a paintbrush, an idea, a piece of Scripture that Jesus opens my eyes to.
Through buckets of tears and a heart torn into fragile pieces, I cling to a mighty God who knew this hour would land. I continue to stand. I continue to hope. And believe He’s got some reason for what is happening.
I‘m grateful for who I am in Christ. How about you? Do you cook or sew or draw or write? Do you care for others? Do you pray or sing? Whatever it is, do it and don’t let this world that’s passing away cause your heart to grow hard. Find that place. Your art. Because you are a symphony of creation. And God cares about you.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
