Beware

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

Oh, these times. Right? In my recent prayer time, Scripture opened wider to me and the Lord had me to share It with you. It was the passage: ๐ŸŒฟ

John 10:1-5 Verily, verily I say unto you He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climb up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. ๐ŸŒฟ

What came to me is that this is possible. If Jesus warns us about it, then, it is possible for people to enter and be operating inside the Christian world - and not be His. They may be spreading what isnโ€™t Him. ๐ŸŒฟ

They may climb up some other way. Notice the word UP is in the Scripture. To me, this indicates higher places, the upper realms. It can be mystical places that do exist and itโ€™s where people can become fixated and fascinated.

๐ŸŒฟ

People can be fixated on the gifts. People can leave Jesus and move into entertainment. Maybe their UP is on a stage. They can be marvelous orators. Their words can draw you in and the mysteries they describe might make your heart soar. They can be worship leaders. They can be teachers. Anyone who speaks or leads others. We are to look and discern. ๐ŸŒฟ

Jesus clearly says to beware of the ones who climb up some other way. Letโ€™s move on and see what else He says. ๐ŸŒฟ

But He that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. John 10:2 ๐ŸŒฟ

So, a leader must be a shepherd. He must care for whatโ€™s been given him. He must tend them, see they are fed, protected from the wolves and the elements. ๐ŸŒฟ

To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. John 10:3

๐ŸŒฟ

A porter is the doorkeeper. So, the door to our hearing what Jesus reveals must be opened. Otherwise, we are outside. The description next shows that when we are in, we have a relationship with Jesus Christ - He knows our name. And Jesus leads us out. He draws us where we are to go, where we are to serve, where we find pasture. These are the places we live and eat the healthy spiritual food God has for us. ๐ŸŒฟ

John 10:4 -5 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth out before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. ๐ŸŒฟ

This is all pretty daunting. But what I saw in this - and itโ€™s clearly unpacked when Jesus says in John 10:7-10 He is the door - and the thief comes to steal all that, to destroy us. ๐ŸŒฟ

What I discerned in my early prayer time are two things: Jesus must be the center. Relationship with Him and His ways is key. Focus must be on the Lord. We can go UP into sweet heavenly places but our assignment is to stay focused on what Jesus is doing in the earth with it to advance the Kingdom.

Secondly, and this is where He shared in this time with the body of Christ, The Lord is dealing with the wayward ones. Heโ€™s making sure the sheep are advancing in the direction He will lead, as these times are important. I believe we will see more so-called ministers, worship leaders, teachers, prophets and leaders fall. ๐ŸŒฟ

I myself am walking through some painful and hard circumstances. I continue to seek the Lord for what He wants me to do and how to walk through it. Jesus has held me up and I continue to cry out for His direction and at times, Iโ€™ve had to carry my cross in spite of attack, persecution and sin that surrounds me with ones I love. But Jesus. He is my shield. And in these important times, making sure to discern that people are truly following Jesus is as essential as life. Make sure the content of what they bring is Jesus.

๐ŸŒฟ

Be discerning brothers and sisters. Be blessed. Our King Yeshua Jesus will return soon!

Your sister in Christ,

Dana Peters-Colley
